Race/Ethnicity and Outcomes of Venous Ablation Procedures

Endovenous ablation has become the most common procedure performed for treating patients with chronic venous insufficiency. However, there are no data looking at its effectiveness and safety in of different race/ethnicity. In this study, we aim to explore endovenous heat-induced thrombosis (EHIT) recanalization rates We a retrospective analysis thermal procedures from 2012 2022 completed our single outpatient institution looked EHIT rates. Of these 13,335 procedures, 8187 were radiofrequency ablations 5148 laser ablations. 8946 on female (67.1%). Duplex ultrasound scans conducted 3 7 days after their procedure, then 6 months first year, every 12 thereafter. Recanalization defined as reflux or thrombus (using arteriovenous fistula guidelines classification) seen follow-up duplex target vessel, respectively. Asian patients, 2.6% 3.4% The Black 3.0% Hispanic 1.4% developed 2.4% experienced recanalization. Caucasian 2.0% 1.7% had EHIT. procedural success rate patient groups, which was not observed, 96.1% Asian, 95.2% Black, Hispanic, 96.2% patients. There significant difference among that recanalization, did find when stratified by race/ethnicity compared those recanalize (Tables I II).
